This variety probably gets its name from its extremely dark skin. Prized for its bitter sharpness in hard cider making. Kingston Black is capable of making a distinctive single-variety cider.

High in tanin and acid

Hard cider, bitter sharp

Late, October/November

Partially self fertile, Northern Spy
