'Ontario'

Description: 

Large 'flattened' fruit which is red layered on a green to yellow background. Flesh is white crisp and aromatic.  Very scab resistant.  Very tart when first picked but stores well and the flavour mellows for a nice mid to late winter apple.  This apple is prized for its Vitamin C content and attractive blossom.

 

Uses: 

Fresh eating, cooking, cider.

 

Harvest:

Late: October.

 

Pollinators: 

Akane, Cortland, Cripp's Pink, Gala, Wolf River.

 

White flowering crabapples are also good pollinisers for this variety.
